First Day of School 2009/2010 for Brit and Mike

Yesterday was the first day of school for Brit and Mike. Brittany started ninth grade, she is officially a high schooler, a freshman. She likes most of her classes and has friends in each one. They didn't put her in several of the classes that she wanted, so she has two study halls, which might be a good thing - so she can get some schoolwork done. Her schedule is so crazy full with marching band and cheerleading right now that it keeps us all going. I took tons of pics as the kids prepared to leave and the little girls stood at the window watching them get on the bus. Ashley starts preschool next Tuesday but she wants me to take her the first day. Mikey started Junior High, he is already in sixth grade. My little man is growing up....my only precious little boy is getting soo big, he is already a fourth of an inch taller than Brit. He has such a tender heart, I hope he stays that way. My kids are growing up way too fast, I wish summer wasn't over yet, I hate to have them back in school already, I will miss them!

After straightening the house up we went to pick up some sweet corn. We got several bags of cream corn in the freezer and also put 3 bags of corn on the cob in for Ashley....she wanted to freeze corn on the cob, because it isn't as good cut off...when she saw the bags of corn on the cob she wanted to know if it was all hers.....Ashley did help clean the corn and Hailey tried to help by eating little fresh kernels of corn off the table. Ashley would bring each ear of corn in after it was cleaned to add to our huge pile. While doing the corn we decided to throw together some pumpkin pies, with all the pumpkin I had in the freezer....and then we had the crazy idea to try to can salsa after that....it was a good idea but alot to do with two little girls. We ended up making a bowl of fresh salsa and several jars of canned salsa. Ashley played outside also during the salsa making, with the new little kittie.... Hailey however helped the whole time, and when I say helped, I mean played softball with the tomotoes and a wooden spoon....by throwing the tomatoes on the table or floor and hitting them repeatedly with the spoon.....she was covered with tomatoes. She did try to help peel them...after they were boiled for a minute she would say Hot...but kept trying she did end up peeling a couple....

It was a good day, very productive....and the girls enjoyed themselves!
